in the Community Room at Beaverton High School. Everyone is welcome.

Beaverton High School Volunteer Committee Chair Positions

  • Volunteer Coordinators - Provide a coordinated effort to help ensure the needs of the BHS staff are met by the legion of devoted and energetic parent volunteers.
  • Classroom Chairperson - Assist classroom teachers in finding volunteers for activities such as tutoring, organizing and classroom projects.
  • College Career Center Coordinators - Primary responsibility is creating a work schedule/calendar for the CCC. They train the parent volunteers in the early Fall in a two/three hour session. Supervise volunteers in the opening of the CCC in September and the closing of the CCC the last school week of June. The Chair(s) write updates when needed for the Parent Newsletter. They coordinate with the BHS College Career Coordinator to insure that the CCC runs smoothly during the school year.
  • Counseling - Responsibilities include making calls/e-mails to arrange volunteers to help the counseling office with registration, scheduling and forecasting activities for students throughout the year.
  • Library Chair - Responsibilities consist of organizing volunteers to assist the library staff shelve books and other helpful tasks. A list of volunteers will be provided.
  • Lost & Found Chair - Responsibilities consist of organizing volunteers to set out "Lost & Found" items during both lunches several times per year.
  • Mentoring - This program will match up adults with students that need assistance with their school work.
  • Newsletter Chair - newsletter chair(s) organize the once a month work party to label and prepare the newsletter for mailing. A list of volunteers are provided by the coordinators.
  • Advisory Support - Responsibilities consist of organizing volunteers to assist Advisory teachers. Advisory Volunteers generally help copy and organize Advisory materials.
  • Scholarships Chair - Collect incoming scholarship information weekly. Compile and type up a list of short descriptions of each scholarship. Copy application forms and keep the student files filled. Keep a database of scholarships and put them in booklet form at the end of the year. Provide some scholarship opportunities to highlight on the Volunteer Committee web site.
  • Secretary - Attend the monthly Volunteer Committee meetings and take minutes. After minutes are reviewed by the Volunteer Coordinators, send to Web site chair for posting on the web site.
  • Staff Appreciation Chair - Coordinates the twice yearly 'spread' of incredibly delectable goodies for the BHS staff, because we are indeed appreciative!
  • Student Activities Liaison - Arrange for parent volunteers to school events. Primarily school dance chaperones. A list of events and volunteers will be provided.
  • Testing Support Chairperson - Assist the administration by arranging volunteer help to sign students in for State testing, AP and IB exams. List of volunteers and schedule of tests available during the year.
  • Volunteer Web site Chair - Coordinates the information for updates to the web site.

*All chairperson positions will be printed in the roster and listed on our web site. Volunteer chairs are also encouraged to come to the monthly volunteer meeting held during the day at BHS. We get together socially at least a couple of times as well and all chairpersons are welcome. Come join us as we help the school, increase our own knowledge and share the experience of high school with other parents.
