BHS Volunteer Meeting Minutes
March 3, 2006

10 members present
Meeting called to order at 9:00 am
Minutes were approved.

VICE PRINCIPAL’S REPORT: Ronda Haun
Bond Measure: Ronda had handouts for everyone on the Bond measure and how it affects BHS. We are helping with 4 “calling nights” at the district office to help garner support for the bond. The three remaining nights BHS is telephoning are April 5th and 26th and May 11th.

Assessment: We had an extremely successful ACT testing day on Feb. 13th. BHS had 100% participation on the part of our teachers, and the students were very focused. Results from the exam will be given to students in advisory and will be explained in full to all students. Results will be received in April. We are a pilot district for the state in consideration of replacement of CIM with the ACT testing.

Parent Forums: BHS is having several educational forums for parents. The first one occurred on Feb 22nd and was about METH addictions. The nest one will take place on March 22nd. The topic is “The adolescent brain.” The third forum will occur in May and the date has not been set yet.

Testing: We are just beginning some of the IB testing. The majority of the IB/AP testing will occur in May.

Forecasting is finished. Students and teachers will have their schedules before they leave for the summer.

Spring sports have begun their seasons.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATORS: Anne and Michele
Everyone is invited to the Principal’s Tea on Friday, May 5th.

COUNSELING: Judy
All is going well. Forecasting packets are being passed out and received back.

GRAD NIGHT: Pizzacato Fundraiser was March 7th

MENTORS: Denise
This is the second year of the mentoring program. New students are being added to the program. Rita Morgan is happy with the success of the program.

SCHOLARSHIPS: Lori and Denise
There are LOTS of scholarships available. Use the Pepsi search tool. It is wise to have a separate e-mail address you use only for scholarships because you receive a lot of junk mail after you begin applying.
