•Committee Reports

CCC – The furniture has arrived, but it is not what we’d like to see in there. The furniture is not very warm and inviting. It will be up to us to create an inviting atmosphere. If you are interested in being on a committee to help spruce up the CCC, please contact Anne Ward, Martha Callahan or Julie Noonan.

Counseling – Next project will be sending out transcripts for seniors. This will take place at the end of the first semester. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Laurie Scott.

Student Liaison – Next event will be Mardi Gras. Contact Barbee Halbert if you are interested in helping as a dance chaperone.

Newsletter – If you are interested in helping with the newsletter, please stop by the community room the second Thursday of each month around 9:00 a.m.

Scholarship – The new list is up and running. Each Thursday there will be a new list posted on the Web site, or you can pick up a copy at the CCC. Deadline for most scholarships is in March.

Staff Appreciation – What a success! The staff really appreciates the efforts everyone puts in to make this day perfect. The next staff appreciation day will be in May. More information will follow

Classroom – We received six responses from the e-mail that went out regarding the anthropology class. This list was passed on to the teacher. There is an upcoming request for help with tutoring an 11th grade student with disabilities.

• Miscellaneous

Julie Liggins will be taking over the lost and found and clothes closet. There will be a need for volunteers every other month during the school year to help out with the lost and found. Volunteers will be needed before school, during lunches and after school to man the lost and found tables. If anyone has lost a cell phone, they can be found in the office. The Clothes Closet is in need of adult sizes. Jeans are really needed. The Clothes Closet is at Raleigh Hills School by the back parking lot. It is open on Wednesday’s. If you want a receipt, please put a self addressed stamped envelope in with your clothes.

We have talked to Kim Rutherford about the idea of the Volunteer Committee and the Booster Club forming a committee to discuss the ongoing issue of student conduct at the dances and games.

The 8th grade forecasting night will be February 10, 2005.

Volunteer Appreciation week will be April 17 – 23.

The Principal Tea will be held in May. This tea will include those parent volunteers of incoming 9th graders. More information will follow.

VICE PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

  • Currently we are working on projects to help “at risk” students. These students are ones that are heading toward gangs. We would like to set up a plan where these students are required to go to the CCC to look up information to help with their future. This could be college, trade schools or jobs. We are looking for volunteers (especially men) that would be able to help these kids with possible goals. James has interviewed and placed a volunteer from the National Guard who will be doing this. This gentleman says he is not in the school to recruit. Those people that were signed up for the mentoring program might be interested in this.

Another area that these volunteers could help with is trying to get these kids more involved in after school activities. Many of these kids don’t participate because they don’t have the money. These kids need to understand that the school doesn’t want them not to participate because of money hardships. A mentor would be able to help walk them through the ins and outs of high school.

The Beaverton Police Department has invited James to their next gang meeting. James would like the police to become more visible. Currently the police department has the P.A.L. program, but we are looking for other types of interactions.

The classrooms in the old cafeteria are up and running. They look great!

Meeting adjourned at 11:00.

Next meeting will be February 4, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. in the community room
