Meeting called to order at 9:00 am
Introductions were made.
Minutes were approved.
VICE PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:
Ronda Haun
It has been an amazing week as Beaverton deals with the loss
of the two students last weekend. A crisis support team was
formed to help deal with the emotions of students and staff.
We received a Tuberculosis clearance
from the health department. No further testing is necessary.
8th grade preview night was
the week of 11/28. Approximately 300 attended. Forecasting
night will be next spring.
Fall sports have closed. 37
of our athletes were awarded all metro honors. We are very
proud of them.
The last progress reports of
the semester are due Tuesday 12/6, then there are 4 weeks
of school remaining until the end of the semester.
TESA testing is underway in
all areas. We are testing seniors to have them gain CIMs.
Each student has 3 opportunities to take the test, whether
sophomore or senior.
If a snow day occurs, it does
not change the odd/even set up for the year. The day is just
missed.
VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR: Michele
and Anne
Anne asked if anyone was interested in helping with library
copying.
COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER: Martha
and Julie
Everything is going well. Martha is selling Jamba Juice/Cinnabon
cards for Beaverton Basketball fundraising.
COUNSELING: Judy
On February 13th the school district is paying for all students
in the junior class to take the ACT test. They are also paying
for the sophomore and freshmen classes to take a practice
version of the exam. Martha Setzer has been hired as our new
counselor. They have an ongoing vault filing project if anyone
is interested in helping.
STUDENT ACTIVITIES: Leslie
Winter Formal went well.

SCHOLARSHIPS:
Lori and Denise
The list is updated each week. We are not receiving paper
announcements like we used to for scholarships, so Denise
and Lori are using their historical lists and going online
to look at each scholarship. Most of the national scholarships
are now requiring online applications.
STAFF
APPRECIATION: Toni and Laurie
December 13th is the date. Food sign-ups are going well. Laurie
will be there the night before to decorate. Food can be dropped
off anytime before 10:00 in the staff room or in the office.
VOLUNTEER WEB PAGE: Anne
Look at our website at www.bhsvolunteers.org. !!!!!
MENTORING: Denise
Things are going well. We have 25 people volunteering as a
mentor right now. They continue to meet with their students
once a week.
BOOSTER CLUB: Sharon
We are ordering new spirit gear just for adults! There are
denim shirts, Black Fleece jackets, a gray hoody, a ¼
zip jacket and several hats. They need at least 24 orders
to do the production, so Sharon is collecting orders now and
at the booster club meeting. They are being sold by word of
mouth. Anne may send an e-mail and Sharon may put a note in
the newsletter.
GRAD-NIGHT FUNDRAISER: Judy
January 21st there will be a Texas Hold-Em party to raise
funds for grad-night. There are only 100 seats available,
and it is great fun! We are asking for hors d’euvres
and dessert donations, and need lots of volunteers!
EVAN WOOD MEMORIAL: Jessica Brett
In commemoration of her friendship with Evan Jessica has developed
a plan to renovate the volleyball court at Cove Palisades
where their families vacationed each summer. She is working
in conjunction with The Oregon State Parks Trust and the Cove
Palisades management. Donations can be made at any Portland
Teachers Credit Union. (Jessica needs to raise approximately
$2,800.00.) They hope to complete the project during the winter
months, so it is ready for use in the spring.
